Appts. for parallel feeding two chains to a work station for bonding the chains includes needle-shaped members driven to move reciprocably in the feed direction and to reciprocate with lifting and lowering motion in an orthogonal direction to allow for disengagement from the chains afted an advancing movement and re-engagement after return movement. The chains run in guideways and the members are carried by a head and are sharpened to facilitate engement with an underlying chain. The position of the members w.r.t .the guideways is pref. adjustable by means of a laterally slidable arm which can be locked in place by a screw.
