-9-ASSEMBLY HEAD FOR ASSEMBLINGDOMED CAN ENDS WITH CAN BODIESABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREThis relates to the assembling of a can endwith a can body wherein there is an interference fitbetween the can end and the can body. There is providedan assembly head which receives in centered relation thecan end and squares the can end with respect to its axisand where necessary reforms the peripheral portion of thecan end. The can to be assembled with respect to the canend has an upper portion thereof entering into a lowerguide portion of the assembly head both to align the canbody with the can end and to reform the can body should itbe out of round. Telescoping may then be automaticallyeffected between the can end and the can body to completethe assembly.
