ABSTRACTThe present invention provides a process forthe detection of the presence of an allergy and forthe specific detection of the allergen responsiblefor the allergy, based on the cellular principle,wherein leukocytes of a sample to he investigatedare incubated with an allergen or another stimulationfactor of degranulation, such as anti-IgE, in anaqueous medium, the leukocytes are then separatedoff and the remaining solution is incubated with acompound of the general formula:-Y-X-Cin which Y is an amino acid or a peptide containing2 or 3 amino acids, the amino acids optionally carry-ing a conventional protective group on the amino end,X is arginine or lysine and C is a chromogenicresidue, in the presence of a buffer effective at pH6.3 to 8.0 and the liberation of the chromogenicresidue is measured.
