APPLICATION OF ADDITIVES TO CIGARETTE FILTER TOWAbstract of the DisclosureA filter tow blooming jet device for applyingan additive to a continuous, multifilament filter tow isdisclosed wherein the jet device is provided withorifice means transversely positioned in an elongatedpassageway through which the advancing filter tow passesand the additive is applied by nozzle meansconcentrically positioned with respect to the advancingfilter tow at a point downstream of the orifice means.The additive may also be applied to the filter tow bynozzle means positioned adjacent to the wall surface ofthe elongated passageway or by injecting the additiveinto a stream of gaseous fluid introduced into the jetdevice for blooming the filter tow.
