In an apparatus for the single-sided or double-sided coating of steel strip, in particular a zinc-plating apparatus, consecutive coating units (1, 2) are inclined to the horizontal and to one another. Disposed in each case between two coating units is a deflection roller (4) which is designed as a contact roller. The slope of the coating units with respect to the horizontal is 1 to 10 DEG , preferably 5 to 6 DEG . A suitable device ensures that the deflection roller (4) between the coating units (1, 2) is always in the correct position. The anode plates (5, 6) can be adjusted to a small gap (7) to increase the current density. For this purpose, the anode covers supporting the anode plates are movably mounted in the housing frame of the coating units (1, 2) and provided with adjusting devices. IMAGE
