In this device, a drive part (4 or 14) is provided which is held in its initial position by spring force, can be deflected by a force corresponding to the saturation degree and actuates a display element (5) which can be seen from the outside. A constructionally simple design of the display device is achieved in that the drive part (4 or 14) is of plate shape, is arranged in the casing of the vacuum cleaner in the region of the side opposite the side of the dust filter bag (9) charged with the accumulating dust, and is surrounded by a resting edge (2) which protrudes in relation to its plate plane, on which resting edge the dust filter bag (9) rests with its outside, but is held with spacing from the drive part (4 or 14).
