Process for insulating hollow building blocks, and in particular masonry formed therefrom, by introducing synthetic foams, in which - urea formaldehyde foam (UF foam) is introduced - under pressure - into a plurality of hollow building blocks or masonry constructed therefrom, - the introduction of the UF foam taking place via hollow building blocks which have at least one opening for injecting UF foam and the design of which permits a distribution of the introduced foam in the chamber system and the emergence of the UF foam in adjacent hollow building blocks which also permit penetration of the chamber system by means of UF foam and - monitoring of the filling of the hollow building blocks or of the masonry being carried out by measuring the pressure and/or the time profile, hollow building blocks suitable for use in this process.
