Heat and water are removed from the lower convective storage layer (2), consisting of salt water having a high salt concentration, by thermal trans-membrane distillation using at least one hydrophobic, water vapour-permeable, porous separating wall (membrane) (5) which is positioned in the storage layer (2). The heat removed from the storage layer (2) can be discharged outside the solar pool (1) and/or within the solar pool (1), for example in the upper covering layer (4), the water removed from the storage layer (2) can be used, for example, for producing drinking water or, after going off the heat has been removed, can be recycled into the storage layer (2).
