There is a push-in device in which a push-in element (4) is guided by sliding strips (10, 11) on guiding strips (8, 9). In this case, it is desirable to realise a firm or damped guidance using simple means. This is achieved by covering in each case one (8, 9) of the mutually assigned sliding and guiding strips (8, 9; 10, 11) with a fabric (12) which is compressible in its thickness and forms a firm dense base layer and also a soft surface (13), fabric covers being provided for guidance in respect of both directions perpendicular to the push-in direction (14). The fabric slides on metal or plastic, thereby producing the feeling of a firm or damped guidance. IMAGE
