The device comprises an active cylindrical chamber 17 filled with a gas to be compressed and expanded and housing a porous element 18 separating it into two enclosures 19, 20, the first 19 of which is in thermal contact with the outside and the second 20 of which is insulated. A control chamber 26 is connected to the active chamber via an intermediate chamber 24. The porous element 18 is securely fastened to a stem 23 sliding in this last chamber 24. It is the pressure difference between the control and active chambers which allows the movement of the porous element 18. The active chamber 17 is connected to a pressure generator 10. The stem 23 slides in the intermediate chamber 24 without sealing with a clearance of sufficiently low value for gaseous exchanges between control 26 and active 17 chambers to be calibrated. IMAGE
