The device comprises a measuring cell 2 containing a liquid whose resistivity is to be determined. It also comprises a low frequency square wave AC generator 1 connected to the measuring cell 2, means 3 for measuring the current corresponding to each square wave and for removing from each square wave the transient part due to the stray capacitance of the measuring cell, and means 4, 5 for displaying the measurement thus taken. The method and device are particularly applicable to the measurement of the resistivity of liquids used to impregnate insulation or to fill high voltage equipment used in electronics or electrical engineering.
