Reductionof erosion and muzzle flash of gun tubes

Gun barrel erosion and muzzle flash are reduced by introducing a compound of the group of ammonium and potassium carbonates and - bicarbonates into the gun chamber containing the propellant charge. In addition to reducing erosion and muzzle flash, ammonium carbonate and ammonium bicarbonate provide no detectable increase in smoke levels produced.
