PURPOSE:To permit the automatic adjustment of irrigation of crops by providing a sponge-like porous material body which absorbs water in contact with soil. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic coupling between two coils 61 and 61' is intensified when a ferromagnetic material core 62 is pulled upward together with a hanging wire 9 upon decreasing of the moisture content in soil. The voltage induced in the secondary coil 61' increased in such a case but the voltage decreases in the opposite case. The change of the voltage is thereupn amplified by an amplifier 66, etc. and is inputted to a control apparatus 100 having functions to instruct, record and adjust data. The signal S1 through the amplifier 66 from the coil 61' is inputted to, for example, a control device 102 and similarly the signals S2, S3..., etc. from plural measuring instruments are inputted to the same control device 102, then the measured values from the respective measurement instruments are compared and totalized by a computer (CPU, RAM, ROM) built into the device 102, by which the exacter information is obtd. The automatic irrigation is easily made possible by inputting the output signals from the respective measuring instruments to the control apparatus 100.
