摘要
PURPOSE:To confirm the adsorptivity of the activated carbon in an activated- carbon adsorption tower when an atomic power plant is in operation by injecting a rare gas which is converted into an isotope by the irradiation of radial rays from an atomic reactor water supply system, and introducing the generated rare gas radioactive isotope to a rare gas holdup device. CONSTITUTION:When 40Ar is injected into the atomic reactor water supply system, the 40Ar is irradiated with a neutron in an atomic reactor pressure vessel, converted into 41Ar therein, and introduced to a rare gas holdup system through an exhaust gas treating system, etc. At this time, the radial rays of the 41Ar passing through the rare gas holdup system is detected at the inlet and the outlet of the activated-carbon adsorption tower, and the passing time is measured. The holdup time of 133Xe under test and design conditions is obtained on the basis of the measured value. Accordingly, since the test for confirming the holdup performance of the activated carbon can be performed when the atomic power plant is in operation, the operation stages, man-hours, and cost of equipment can be reduced.
