AGENT FOR IMPROVING CEREBRAL BLOOD FLOW AND PROTECTING CEREBRAL CELL

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled agent effective in remarkably increasing the blood flow in brain and decreasing respiration rate of cerebral cell and useful especially for the treatment of ischemic cerebropathy, by combining a PG- synthesis inhibitor capable of passing through blood-brain barrier with a PGD2- active substance including a novel compound. CONSTITUTION:The objective agent can be produced by combining (A) a PG- synthesis inhibitor capable of passing through a blood-brain barrier, e.g. a cyclooxygenase inhibitor inhibiting the formation of PG from arachidonic acid, concretely a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory substance such as indomethacin, diclofenac, etc., with (B) a substance having the activity of PGD2. The component B is the compound of formula (R1 is carboxy or its derivative; R2 and R3 are H or lower alkyl) or its salt. Both components are preferably separately administered, preferably by administering the component B 30-60min after the administration of the component A. It is useful for the treatment of epilepsy and senile disorder.
