Novel 1-alkyl ergolinylthiourea derivatives of the general formula IMAGE wherein R1 is C1-6 alkyl, R2 and R3 are C1-4 alkyl, R4 is hydrogen or C1-4 alkyl and C9--C10 is a single bond or a double bond, and the acid addition salts thereof, with the provision that when R3 and R4 are both ethyl, R1 and R2 are not methyl and acid addition salts thereof are provided; as well as a process for the preparation of these compounds. The compounds are useful as medicinal agents, e.g., for the treatment of mental depression.
