TREATMENT OF EXCESSIVE SLUDGE BY DRY COKE EXTINGUISHING EQUIPMENT

PURPOSE:To attain to cool coke and to effectively recover the sensible heat of coke, by treating a sludge cake subjected to dehydration treatment by blowing the same into the cooling tower of dry coke extinguishing equipment from the lower part of said cooling tower or a gas recirculating line. CONSTITUTION:Red heat coke charged into a cooling tower 1 from the charging port 2 thereof is cooled by cooling gas rising in the cooling tower 1 while supplied from gas distributor 9 in said tower 2 and steam generated by moisture evaporation of blown sludge and cooled coke is taken out from the bottom part of the tower 1 as low temp. coke. On the other hand, the greater part of the sludge, which is blown into the cooling tower 1 and of which the contained moisture is almost evaporated through the contact with coke, is adhered to the coke lump delivered from the cooling tower 1 in a powdery form and the remainder is included in recirculated gas to be recovered in a cyclone but, because the cell membranes of contamination bacteria in both of them are destructed by the sensible heat of coke, no malodorous odor peculiar to excessive sludge is generated at all.
