TREATMENT OF SURFACE LAYER OF EXTRA-SOFT GROUND

PURPOSE:To form a thin reinforcing layer on the surface layer of an extra-soft ground by a method in which a rigid net is laid on an extra-soft ground, a sheet having a greater extendibility than the rigid net is laid on the rigid net, and banking is applied partially to the surface of the sheet. CONSTITUTION:A rigid net 1 is laid over the whole area of an extra-soft ground G without slackening, and a sheet 2 having a greater extendibility than the net 1 is laid on the net 1. Banking 3 is partially applied to the upside of the sheet 2, where a space is formed between both the sheet 2 and the net 1 owing to the greater extendibility of the sheet 2 than that of the net 1. Soil 4 passing through the net 1 is naturally packed into the space. Since the soil 4 is held by the net 1 and the sheet 2, the horizontal shearing resistance increases and a thin reinforcing layer is formed on the surface layer of the extra-soft ground G. An intermediate banking 5 is then applied.
