Watertight demountable casing for electronic seismological equipment - is constructed from two identical shells made from fibre reinforced nylon

The casing comprises upper (1) and lower (2) shells, clamped together so that a sealing ring is compressed between grooves (7,8) in their flanges (5,6) when a ring clamp (9) is tightened around the flanges. The inside faces of the shells have seatings (11,12) which can retain 'boxes' of electronic equipment in two possible positions. Electrical connection is via a cable and plug (16). The cable passes through the wall of the lower shell and a watertight sealing collar (15). Both shells have anchor points (17) inset into them and have locating devices (18,19) which allow several cases to be stacked. A manoeuvring ring assembly (20 to 25) makes the casing easy to handle when it is swinging on a support cable.
