Excipient for prepn. of compsns. for inhalation - contains micro-granules of solid water-soluble diluents and lubricant

An excipient, suitable for use in prepn. of pharmaceutical compsns. in powdered form for inhalation, comprises microgranules consisting of solid, water-soluble diluents (I) with a lubricant (II). The particles are pref. 30-150 microns in size. Compsns. of the excipient with a solid drug (III) are also provided. (I) is e.g. lactose, xylitol, mannitol, arabinose and dextran. (I) is pref. lactose contg. 0.5-30 (pref. 4.5)% saccharose.
