The obturator member is formed from two parts which are height-adjustable in relation to one another by virtue of the fact that the movable piston (15) which serves as obturator is screwed onto the piece (22) for connection to the diaphragm (3) and operated by a key (28) which is external to the mechanism. Application in hot-water apparatus and bath heaters of variable power.
