HYDROCARBON CONVERSION WITH ZSM-22 ZEOLITEABSTRACTAlkylated aromatic compounds, either alone or in a mixturewith an alkylating agent, are disproportionated, alkylated ortransalkylated in the presence of a ZSM-22 zeolite. The products ofthe reactions contain amounts of the para-isomer which are in excessof the equilibrium amounts of such isomer. The ZSM-22 zeolite is acrystalline zeolite material having an X-ray diffraction pattern asset forth in Table I of the specification.Alternatively, mixtures of 1,2-disubstituted and/or1,3-disubstituted isomers along with the 1,4-disubstituted isomer ofan aromatic compound can be contacted with the ZSM-22 zeolite undercracking conditions to thereby selectively crack the 1,4-disubstitutedisomer and reduce the proportion of the 1,4-disubstituted isomer inthe isomer mixture.
