EXPLORING FOR SUBSURFACE HYDROCARBONSBY SEA FLOOR TEMPERATURE GRADIENTSPREFERABLY USING A MULTIPLEXED THERMISTOR PROBEAbstractDisclosed are a method and a system for measuring thesea floor temperature gradient several meters into theformation at each of an array of measurement sites, andusing these gradients to explore for and characterizehydrocarbon deposits. The measurements can be taken witha special lance driven into the otherwise undisturbed seafloor.
