ABSTRACTA topical ointment, cream or lotion containingcarbamide peroxide in an amount sufficient to be therapeuti-cally effective for the treatment of acne vulgaris includingopen and closed comedones. There is also disclosed a composi-tion effective in decreasing the inflammatory lesions of acnevulgaris in human patients having such inflammatory lesionscomprising a carrier containing a therapeutically effectiveamount of carbamide peroxide in combination with a therapeuti-cally effective amount of one or more of a topical antibiotic,nicotinic acid or nicotinamide.
