ABSTRACTA MICROWAVE OVEN, A CLOSED VESSEL AND METHODSOF DETERMINING VOLATILE MATERIAL CONTENTA microwave vacuum oven for quickly removing volatilematerial from laboratory samples: The oven has a vacuumchamber for receiving the samples and a vacuum source forexpelling volatile material. Preferably the chamber isprovided by a closed vessel susceptible to microwaveradiation for carrying laboratory samples. This vessel hasa lubricator seal in sealing engagement with a top andbottom portion for easily removing the top portionAuxiliary components are also disclosed for graduallydecreasing the microwave energy output in accordance withresidual volatile material present at a given time in asystem.A method is also described for carrying out the deter-minition of volatile material content.
