A balancing device for a press of the type in which a slide (12) moves up and down with respect to a bolster (5) which is characterized in that an energizing means (21) is provided in a manner to energize the slide upward when the die height clearance is adjusted but to be disconnected from the slide when the slide is moving up and down.
