Synthesis of 5-aryl-2,4-dialkyl-3H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thione and its preparation

The method for preparing 5-aryl-2,4-dialkyl-3H-1,2,4triazole-3- thiones (I) which are used in the treatment of melancolia comprises: (a) mixing 2,4-dimethylthiosemicarbazide wtih pyridine and adding 4- chlorobenzolylchloride to the above mixture; (b) agitating the mixture all night and drying to obtain the product. In (I), R is C1- C6 lower alkyl, C1-C6 lower alkoxy hydroxyl, methylenedioxy or trifluoromethyl; R2 is R4 is C1-C6 lower alkyl.
