A moulding provided with a surface lamination which has a backing body manufactured by pressing fibre material with the application of heat is proposed. The backing body is provided with a sufficiently deformable lamination layer of surface-decorative material, preferably for installation as interior lining of passenger compartments in motor vehicles. The surface, which is visible in the intended installation position, of the lamination of the moulding is temporarily provided with an additional, easily removable protective film which covers the lamination and protects the laminated moulding during handling against mechanical and other damage and/or quality-reducing effects, from the time of its manufacture through to final assembly.
