In the ultrasonic coupling generator according to the invention, the fundamental longitudinal frequency of the basic member of the generator can be varied reversibly after it has been produced, in order to compensate the disadvantageous influence of the unavoidable tolerances of the piezodiscs on the atomising/spraying characteristics. By means of mechanical tuning elements with which the length, the mass or the mass distribution of the basic member of the generator can be varied, it is possible to influence the fundamental longitudinal frequency of the basic member of the generator, and thus also the amplitude of oscillation of the atomising/spraying actuator in such a way that an optimum atomising/spraying behaviour is set.
