In order to ensure a rapid and reliable response of the device and for reliable biological separation between drinking water system and service water system, the shut-off fitting provided between said drinking water system and service water system is designed with an intermediate chamber at the drinking water side, which intermediate chamber can be ventilated by the atmosphere, and with a chamber at the service water side and, between the two chambers, a connection line is provided which is controlled by means of a safety switch responding to pressure loss or change in pressure difference.
