The object of the invention is to simplify the determination of material densities. It is to replace, inter alia, the laborious measurement (weighing method) of materials, especially having low-viscosity consistency or a granular, flowable structure. The basic principle consists in immersing a defined volume of the material into a medium having known buoyancy. The immersion depth permits inferences regarding the material density.
