In the process for producing milling cutters by equipping with macro grain of hard, sharp-edged abrasive materials, the machining properties of this coarse grain at high rotational speed of the milling cutter are utilised, as a result of which the cutting blades usually used can be replaced. Hand-held milling devices with cutting blades are difficult and inaccurate to control for wood machining and hold a high risk of accidents by the appliance breaking out at changes in grain. The equipping of the milling cutters with coarse, sharp-edged grain, on the other hand, permits a versatile shaping of the milling cutter, a neat and risk-free operating console and a high lifetime in the event of sand or metal being included in the wood. Milling cutters with macro grain equipping thus provide ideal prerequisites for use in tree surgery.
