The invention relates to a combustion vessel which serves as a simulated candle or for use in candle-shaped luminous elements and is filled with liquid wax, consisting of a cylindrical tubelet which is closed on the underside and has a seal which extends outwards or inwards on the top side in a wedge-shaped or rectilinear fashion and in which there is arranged centrally a wick guide, in particular a wick guide tubelet, having a wick which is retracted and reaches into the liquid wax. The combustion vessel is characterised by the provision in the region of the wick guide or of the upper seal of one or more openings which reach into the interior of the tubelet and are coated with a layer of hard wax or with a plastic film for the purpose of sealing against the escape of the liquid fuel, in particular liquid wax.
