The invention relates to a clamping connection between two structural parts by means of an expanding dowl, having a bore, and a screw, and it further relates to the expanding dowl itself. It has proven disadvantageous, in the case of the prior art, that tolerances in the connection of two panel-type structural parts cannot be compensated for. The invention remedies this in that in each case one slot is provided in the structural parts, said slots being arranged at an angle of 90 DEG with respect to one another. There is further provided an expanding dowl which has in each case one slit, passing through centrally, in its upper and lower regions, which slits run perpendicularly with respect to one another and, in turn, are aligned, with their axis which passes through them centrally, with the longitudinal axis of the corresponding slot. Consequently, the desired adjustment in three directions is made possible in order to compensate for tolerances and any play and, nevertheless, to ensure, at the same time, a secure connection of the two structural parts.
