Guillotine-type cutter for the transverse severing of stacks of paper

During the transverse severing of stacks of paper, the wedge shape of the guillotine-type cutter causes deformation of the stacks of paper, which are situated on a guillotine-type cutter table transversely to the cut edge, with makes subsequent handling of them more difficult. The new arrangement is intended to counteract excessive deformation. The forward thrust imparted to the stacks (3) of paper by the wedge-action cutting of the knife (1) is reduced by one or more braking rollers (9) which act on the stacks of paper and in so doing reduces deformation to a minimum. The arrangement is especially well suited for automatically operating manipulating devices for clearing the transverse cutter platform and facilitates precise alignment of the stacks of paper which is necessary for further processing.
