The invention relates to a method for designing an electrical network for the rooms of a habitable building, permitting the prefabrication of a standard electrical installation, which especially comprises: - an overall protection panel connected to the output of the electrical power consumption meter; - subsidiary connection boxes to which are terminated electrical connections connecting each box, on the one hand, to the functional devices equipping the room which the said box serves, and, on the other hand, to the overall protection panel; - at least one intermediate connection box to which are terminated electrical connections connecting the said intermediate box, on the one hand, to the abovementioned subsidiary boxes, and, on the other hand, to the abovementioned overall protection panel. This method is noteworthy in that it consists in: - providing, for each subsidiary box, an identical length to the electrical connections connecting it to the various functional devices of the room which it serves, this length corresponding at least to the distance which separates the centre of the floor surface of the said room from the functional device of the latter situated at the remotest point from the said centre; - connecting a single intermediate box to the assembly of subsidiary boxes and in providing the electrical connections connecting them with an identical length which corresponds at least to the distance separating the centre of the floor surface of the building to be equipped from the subsidiary box located at the furthest point from this centre; - arranging each of the subsidiary connection boxes at the centre of the floor surface of the room which it is to serve; and - arranging the intermediate connection box at the centre of the floor surface of the building to be equipped. r
