A snap-acting switch characterised by a centre contact 26 that moves in response to applied force over the surface of a first alternate contact 46 with a contact force thereon increasing continuously to a peak value at which it snaps into contact with a second alternate contact 44. The switch is characterised by a V-shaped actuator element 28 and means 42 responsive to an applied force to produce relative movement between such element and the alternate contacts.
