PURPOSE:To obtain a feed in a finishing period suitable for meat cattle, by blending a specific amount of a peroxide lipid and/or saccharides and improve meat quality, e.g. increase the melting point of carcass fat, enhance flavor, etc., by supplying the feed to meat cattle in the finishing period. CONSTITUTION:A fat or oil, e.g. lard, etc., is heated to a temperature above the freezing point so as to rapidly advance autoxidation and afford a peroxide fat or oil. Glucose, sucrose, etc., are used as the saccharides and blended with a feed in a finishing period so as to supply 1.0-4.0mEg/body weight (100kg)/day peroxide lipid expressed in terms of peroxide value (POV) and/or 1.3-3.6g/body weight (kg)/day saccharides. The feed in the finishing period may be continuously, respectively and separately supplied as follows: 2.5-3.0g/body weight/day saccharides and 3.0-3.5mEg/body weight (100kg)/day peroxide lipid expressed in terms of POV. Alternatively, meat quality can be improved by feeding the saccharides and peroxide lipid in combination.
