PURPOSE:To effect always developing stably a negative and positive type photosensitive materials by transferring automatically the negative and positive type photosensitive materials, and by supplying the same developer which is substantially unused, to the materials at every one sheet of the photosensitive materials, followed by developing said materials. CONSTITUTION:The developer which is substantially unused, is supplied at every one sheet of the photosensitive materials which is fed to an automatic processing apparatus. Said apparatus is provided with the means of detecting the existence of the photosensitive material, and the developer is supplied to the surface of printing plate from a developing tank, while transferring the photosensitive materials to the processing step according to the signal coming from said means. The developer which is substantially unused, means the developer having the same development capacity to that of the developer which is unused. The developer may be used by mixing the unused developer with the already used developer in such amount that the development capacity of the mixed developer is not reduced less than that of the unused developer. Thus, the negative type and positive type photosensitive materials are stably developed, using the same developer by means of one of the automatic developing machine and the exchange of the developer is not required.
