METHOD FOR ACCELERATING DESULFURIZATION IN OXYGEN STEEL MAKING PROCESS WITH TOP BLOWING CONVERTER

PURPOSE:To remarkably accelerate desulfurization by using a synthetic CaO- FemOn flux in place of at least part of lime as a subsidiary material to be charged so as to form slag for refining having a low total Fe content, a very high CaO content and superior desulfurizing power. CONSTITUTION:In an oxygen steel making process with a top blowing converter provided with a bottom blowing function, lime is charged as one of subsidiary materials to be charged so as to regulate the basicity of slag to 2. At the same time, a synthetic CaO-FemOn flux is charged so as to attain the set basicity in combination with the lime. Thus, slag having =2.3 basicity is formed and the total Fe content in the slag at the end of refining is kept at 6-15%.
