METHOD OF COUNTING NUMBER OF PASSENGER IN ROUTING BUS

PURPOSE:To automatically count the number passengers so as to aim at shortening the time of data processing and at remarkably reduce the cost of investigation by detecting the foot shapes of passengers on two upper and lower steps, and by tracing variations in the pattern of the number of the foots. CONSTITUTION:A measuring device is composed of an on-board equipment 1 and a ground equipment 2, the on-board equipment comprising a passenger sensor 11 and a data collecting section 12, and the ground equipment 2 comprising a data processing section 21 and a printer 22. The passenger sensor 11 is composed of, for example, cord switches laid in a matrix pattern on two upper and lower boarding steps so as to issue position signals in X- and Y-axis directions, corresponding to the feet of the passengers, such as the shapes or size of the feet of the passengers). The data collecting section 12 is composed of a data memory device 12A and a clock 12B, and stores therein data F from the passenger sensor 11. The content of the data memory device 12 is transmitted to the data processing section 21 after completion of running per day and so forth, and the data processing section 21 judges whether the data F are foot marks or not. When boarding or alighting is determined, the number of passenger is added or subtracted so as to be counted.
