PURPOSE:To manufacture shpherical particles of tricalcium aluminate hydrate suitable for use as a filler for rubber, etc. by reacting Ca(OH)2 contg. a restricted amount of sucrose with Al(OH)3 in an aqueous suspended slurry. CONSTITUTION:An Al(OH)3 slurry is added to a slurry prepared by adding 0.05-1.0pt.wt. of sucrose to 100pts.wt. of Ca(OH)2. The suitable Ca(OH)2 slurry is composed of about 5-150pts. Ca(OH)2 and 100pts. water, and the suitable Al(OH)3 slurry is composed of about 5-400pts. Al(OH)3 and 100pts. water. Ca(OH)2 is mixed with Al(OH)3 in about 3:2 molar ratio and reacted at = about 95 deg.C for = about 2hr. The reaction product is filtered, washed, and dried to obtain spherical particles of tricalcium aluminate hydrate having = about 10mum average particle size and about 2-3mum particle size distribution.
