PURPOSE:To obtain a compact apparatus applicable under a very low temperature and a storing magnetic field, by utilizing a piezo-electric actuator element making the best of a piezo-electric low temperature characteristics. CONSTITUTION:Two piezo-electric actuator elements 1a and 1b with identical characteristics are fixed at one end thereof while supporting a holder 3 for holding a gamma ray source or a absorber at the other end thereof through connections 2a and 12b. When one piezo-electric body 21 and two electrodes 22 and 23 are used, one of the electrodes 22 and 23 is mounted securely. As the actuator elements vibrate with the application of a voltage across the electrodes 22 and 23, the length at right angles to the direction of vibration thereof varies slightly. The insertion of the connections 2a and 2b formed by bending a thin plate allows the transmission of a vibration-wise displacement as intact and the displacement at right angles to the direction of vibration is made up for by extension of a connection plate.
