PURPOSE:To obtain a internal liquid ideal for a KCl diffusion type pH measuring electrode, by using as internal liquid a potassium chloride solution to which is added an nonionic thickener adapted to generate a small inter-liquid potential difference at a comparison electrode section. CONSTITUTION:An internal liquid used for a KCl diffusion type pH measuring electrode employs a potassium chloride solution to which is added a nonionic thickener adapted to generate a less potential difference at a comparison electrode section. The thickener herein used is 0-1% of hydroxy ethylcellulose, 0-7% of potato starch, 0-7% of pullulan or 0-15% of propyleneglycol. Employing the potassium chloride solution with the thickener added thereto, this interval liquid can be applied ideally for a KCl diffusion type pH measuring electrode using a liquid junction common to a KCl replenishing type pH measuring electrode, thereby achieving a better characteristic of a pH measuring electrode.
