PURPOSE:To obtain the titled nutrition promoting agent per rectum, which is administered to patients requiring a large amount of supply of energy or to patients of wide area of burn and raises fat availability in the nutrition promoting agent of the patients, containing L-carnitine or a salt thereof as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:The titled nutrition promoting agent containing L-carnitine or a salt thereof as an active ingredient. L-Carnitine is a substance synthesized from lysine and methionine which are amino acids in organisms, takes part in passage of fatty acid through mitochondria inner film, transports fatty acids to the inside of mitochondria inner film in an enzymatic system of carnitine acetyltransferase I and II and further carnitine-acetylcarnitine translocase and promotes beta-oxidation of fatty acids. The amount of L-carnitine or a salt thereof is preferably 0.1-3.0wt.% based on the nutrition promoting agent.
