PURPOSE:To reduce plate thickness deviations in the longitudinal direction of a strip by correcting and controlling a drafting position of a rolling stand based on results from comparing a rolling speed of a strip to be rolled measured on the outlet side of respective rolling stand with a mass flow value. CONSTITUTION:A strip speed on the outlet side of respective intermediate stands 11-16 are measured by strip speed gage 3a-3g and the speeds are inputted to strip thickness arithmetic units 8a-8f to calculate the outlet side strip thickness of respective intermediate rolling stands. Draft correction amount arithmetic unit 9a-9f calculate and output each draft correction amount to control each roll gap amount by use of respective drafting devices 4a-4f. In this method, the strip thickness accuracy is improved.
