PURPOSE:To prevent the formation of a star by holding a matting agent of a smaller average particle size on one side of a support on which a silver halide emulsion layer is present and a matting agent of a larger average particle size on the other side on which a backing layer is present. CONSTITUTION:When a silver halide photographic sensitive material is obtd. by forming at least one silver halide emulsion layer on one side of a support and a backing layer on the other side, a matting agent of a smaller average particle size is held on the side on which the emulsion layer is present and a matting agent of a larger average particle size is held on the side on which the backing layer is present. The smaller particle size is preferably 10-80% of the larger particle size. Thus, sticking due to contact with the surface of a film is prevented and the formation of a star due to the falling or sinking of the matting agents is also prevented.
