PURPOSE:To inhibit the adherence of slags to the petroleum coke combustion furnace by applying a liquefied slagging inhibitor and a powdery slagging inhibitor to the high-temperature portion of the petroleum coke combustion furnace during the regular repair period of a boiler, and at the time of operation, mixing or charging directly the slagging inhibitor in potroleum cokes. Further, the slagging inhibitor in a powder type as it is left in the form of powder is applied further thereon by spraying or the like thereby to form a coating layer. The slagging inhibitor has a remarkable effect of softening ashes, and ashes which have once adhered to the wall surface and the like of the combustion furnace are changed to have a property easily removed thereform, and are easily exfoliated by soot blowing and the like, thus slagging is suppressed thereby.
