PURPOSE:To obtain the titled alloy foil reduced in impurity content and having extremely superior flexibility, by providing a composition consisting of prescribed percentage of Si, Al, Ca, O, and C and the balance essentially Fe. CONSTITUTION:An Fe alloy containing Si or Al together with Si is melted by heating in a vessel whose internal surface is constituted of CaO refractory material by the conventional method, for example, high-frequency or low-frequency induction heating method, etc., in vacuum or in a nonoxidizing atmosphere such as inert-gas atmosphere, etc., of Ar, etc. As the above CaO refractory material, CaO, larnite (stabilized 2CaO.SiO2), etc., are cited. Then the resulting molten alloy is sprayed through a nozzle by a liquid rapid cooling method, etc., which is fed to the surface of a single or double roll, followed by rapid cooling under nonoxidizing atmosphere. In this way, the desired high- frexibility alloy foil composed of Fe-Si or Fe-Al-Si alloy consisting of 3-15wt% Si, 0-10wt% Al, =50ppm Ca, and the balance essentially Fe can be obtained.
