PURPOSE:To obtain a train timetable diagram reader which can be utilized for operation control and the generation of a timetable in a short time by extracting pieces of timetable information on respective trains from a train timetable diagram read by a image input device by utilizing the characteristics of the train timetable, and storing and displaying time. CONSTITUTION:The image input device 2 reads the train timetable diagram 1 and stores it in an image information storage device 3. A timetable information extraction device 4 reads necessary information out of the device 3 and the information is displayed on a display device 5 and stored in a timetable information storage device 6. At this time, the points indicating 30min or one hour which is a reference time on the time base and the coordinates of two stations are only inputted to the extraction device 4, and the departure and arrival times of trains which arrive at and leave the two stations within a specified time zone are determined by using them. Even when information is extracted separately between only the two stations because of such timetable characteristics that the inclinations of the running directions of up and down trains are different, the information can easily be put together later.
